Here are some basic definitions for some of the technology terms that you may come across:
Application – A software program in which you do your work. ie. MS Word, MS Excel, QuickBooks, etc.
Backup – A copy of your data that you keep in case of accidental loss of data.
Boot – This is the action of starting up a computer.
CD-ROM – Stands for Compact Disc Read-Only Memory. This is a device that reads CDs (Compact Discs)
CPU – the Central Processing Unit. This is a computer chip that processes the data that you input into the computer. In essence, it is the brains of the computer.
Data – This is information that us stored and/or processed on a computer.

kilobyte (KB)= 1024 bytes
megabyte (MB) = 10124 kilobytes
gigabyte (GB) = 1024 megabytes
